How can I work as a substitute teacher and not be so stressed out at the end of the week?
How can I continue to sub and not be so stressed and tired?

no lesson plans, no papers to correct, no meetings to attend
yeah, of course, the little miscreants have even less respect for you than they have for the regular teacher, but i find that is usually a function of the regular teacher.. you are treated close to the same as the regular teacher is treated.
main problem with subbing is the regular teacher seems to give a lot of “make work” projects to the students, work they never do in regular class, and the students know this. this is especially true in high school. this makes it seem like more of a babysitting job than a teaching job, and considering the bus drivers and even the bus aides get paid better than the subs, what the heck
I prefer to sub at the junior high. there, the teachers usually seem to expect the sub to actually teach, and leave lesson plans, lists of problem students, and which students will be helpful. It is more work than babysitting at the high school, but a lot more professionally enjoyable
If the students are the cause of your stress (the bad kind of stress) then you should probably find another line of work.
If not having a good plan to keep the students busy is your stress – get with an experienced teacher to develop an appropriate plan for that particular grade level before you ever get to class.
If discipline and classroom management seems to be an issue, then do some reading (Love and Logic is a great start) and see if you can get a copy of the regular teacher’s procedures.
I have found that most of my stress as a regular classroom teacher comes from deadlines, paperwork, etc. When it comes to just teaching and being with my students (I teach resource math in high school), it is something I love and it doesn’t even seem like work – I can’t believe I get paid for doing something so fun. I have just made a conscious decision to not let the demands outside the classroom inhibit the joy I have in the classroom.
A plan all according the the Man himself.
But one suggestion, though, be a sub in a subject you like, and make like you wanna teach something you really like. It’ll keep the class quiet and…yeah.
Unless you’re one of those quiet subs…
