what do those mean, i mean does freshmen mean ”new high school guys” or is it for girls too.

Nah, that is how you refer to the different grades in high schools, in America at least. Freshmen and sophomores are called underclassmen, while juniors and seniors are upperclassmen. It has nothing to do with gender.
Freshman – 9th Grade
Sophomore – 10th Grade
Junior – 11th Grade
Senior – 12th Grade
And then you have the same thing in college….
freshman – 1st year
soph – 2nd year
junior – 3rd year
senior – 4th year

All labels apply to boys or girls.
