Driver’s Education problem?

My driving instructor is a complete jerk. He yells all the time and makes me very nervous when I drive. He is such a picky grader, and I think he is going to ruin my GPA. No matter how much I practice, he still is very picky. What can I do to help myself?

I think most people in the driver’s ed business are somewhat cranky (or a little strange). My instructor was nice but would say weird things and sing opera while I was driving. I was a bit scared of him. Later when I took my test, the instructor administering my test was VERY cranky. Fortunately I passed the first time 🙂

Some tips to help you: try to put yourself in his shoes. Teaching someone to drive can be scary, your life is in their hands! Don’t take his yelling to heart, he may be taking out some frustration in his life on you. I took a class and they gave a hint that might work for you. When he starts yelling just imagine he has a monkey head. Don’t laugh out loud! But that may help you relax a bit. What he says doesn’t determine your self worth.

You may hate him being picky, especially if he is a jerk. There aren’t much more annoying people as jerks who can tell you what to do. Try to reinterpret him, and take his criticism as “hot tips.” In the short run, it will be annoying, but in the long run, it may help save your life!

You may also want to practice driving with someone else who is more relaxed, maybe a friend, your parents, or a friends parents. They can help you understand tricks on how to drive better, sometimes without being as critical as people who don’t know you.

Best of luck!

If it is absolutely impossible to change drivers then what other options do you have? Basically your gonna have to put up with this jerk until you pass.

My instructor was the exactly the same, she was rude and nothing ever seemed right in her eyes, no matter how hard i tried at the time. Even though she was a bit of a cow, I’m glad now she was picky because i passed first time.

Either way, good luck.

In a way what you call picky is good. He wants you to do the correct thing all the time. New young drivers think that they are invincible and nothing can happen to hem. Unfortunately that is often not the case.

You cannot afford to make ANY errors when driving. It can be literally a matter of life and death.

Get a new driving instructor. Tell him he’s a jerk before you leave.

If you cannot change instructors, and you cannot drop the course, then you will have to stick it out.

get a new one fast. or if you can’t i would have you parents teach you off to the side so then hopefully you won’t have as much to worry about when you are with him
