we got locked out if late at my highschool and had to go to the “holding room”. i don’t think teachers did it if you were a second late, like if they saw you coming down the hall they might wait. but as a teacher now, it is very disruptive when students come in late so i can understand now

Yes, depending on some school. The school that I went to made that a rule. Whereas, if someone comes in late, they lock them out, and then the student has to go get a TARDY ticket from the office. It’s so gay, but then it wastes a lot of time because the line to the office is really LONG. =)

Not only that, but my school also counted you absent if you were more than 20 minutes late to class. SO, yeah.

In my high school they can. Heck I used to had a math teacher that if you are not in the classroom by the beginning of the third bell, she make you go up to the office to get a late pass, then you have to knock on the door so she can let you in for class.

I almost got detention for being 2 minutes early for class. But kids came in 30 minutes late and she didn’t do nothing. Luckily, another teacher talked to her and she let me off easy.

Yes. Punctuality is a virtue. Respect other people’s time as you would your own. If you are habitually late or close to being late, you must learn to live on ‘Lombardi Time.’ To wit, when Vince Lombardi told his Green Bay Packer players that practice was at 9:00 AM and you weren’t there by 8:30 AM, you’d find yourself doing laps around the practice field.

Theorectically yes, but what teacher would be standing by the door and right when the bell rings lock it? I don’t even know any teachers who lock their doors during class, unless of course it’s a lockdown or something.

Besides it would be an insanely stupid and unproductive thing to do.

No a teacher can’t lock a kid out of the classroom because then they would be purposely denying them their rightful education.

Yes. If you are tardy then you’re tardy. Try to make it to class a couple of minutes earlier.

They used to do that at my high school, but parents complained because it was very unreasonable.
