No, you don’t. At least not if it is all within the same country. You may need it sometimes for international mail.

No, you don’t.

But it helps to have it in case you accidentally forget to put the full or correct destination address on, you will at least get the letter back instead of it going to the dead letter office.

Or if the letter gets damaged and the destination address cannot be read you will get the letter back.

Or if the person has moved and did not leave a forwarding address, you will get the letter back.

(You will have to put one on if it is over 13oz or it will not be accepted, and you will have to take it into your local office, carriers are no longer allowed to accept anything bearing stamps that is more than 13oz. Don’t put it in a blue collection box either, it will be returned to you or go to the dead letter office if there is no return address.)

No, the return address it just in case the letter cannot be delivered. In the event that a letter cannot be delivered and has no return address it is handed over to the dead letter office where it is opened to see if there is any way to return the letter. If it cannot be returned or delivered the letter is destroyed.

Yes, you should have one either on the letter head, and or on the envelope. At least use an address lable, or address stamp. Othe wise, how would the person you write to, be able to send you a letter?

No, I don’t believe so. But like someone already mentioned, if it doesn’t get to where it’s supposed to (e.g. intended receiver has moved, wrong unit number written, etc.), you won’t get it back, and it’d prolly get binned.

If it’s a personal mail (to a friend or something), you might wanna write down the return address in case he/she wants to reply but doesn’t have your address. πŸ™‚

not in the U.S., but just remember if there is a problem with getting it to it’s destination, the UPS won’t be able to send it back to you without the return address.

Nope. But if it doesn’t get to wherever you’re sending it, there’s no way to ever see it again.
