Are online colleges for real????

I’m picked on trying to enroll in my community college becausec I have my GED and the guidance counselor yelled at me that they are NOT the same…GED vs.high school diploma. I always got straight A’s, had family problems and had to leave school. Now I’m made to feel like an inferior person because I have a GED.

A GED is equivalent to a high school diploma, but “equivalent” is not the same as “the same thing.” (Just like using cash and debit cards are not really the same thing, but produce the same result.)

So you couldn’t claim that you graduated from a certain high school, because you didn’t – you just earned a similar degree. If you earned the GED through a reputable source, then it should be accepted at any college, and I don’t know why the guidance counselor is freaking out.

Yes, some online colleges are for real, but some are scams. Either way, their degrees are not as impressive as degrees from real colleges – any employer will factor in the source of the degree as well as the degree itself. A bachelor’s degree from some online school no one’s ever heard of won’t count for much, not even as much as an associate’s degree from a credible, long-established, well-known community college.

So be proud of what you’ve accomplished given your handicaps, and don’t let one cranky counselor keep you from the higher education that can change your life.

Yes there are legit online colleges. Some colleges offer online courses. I took some online courses through Ball State University but I did have to go to the campus to take a final. You might check the websites of Universities in your area and see if they offer online courses. Good luck!!

They’re real if you also think some pills can make your breasts or your boyfriend’s penis grow.
