Be witty, maybe a bit bawdy, depending on the audience. Remembering that the bride, her parents, the groom, his parents, friends and relatives will, most likely, be at the reception.

What could be said is “I’ve known the groom (use his name here) for a while now but I’ve not known him when he was 10″ tall. Maybe very soon (the new wife’s name) will know him when he’s 10” tall, or is that a under statement?

Remember alcohol maybe consumed and you don’t want to offend anybody. Death has resulted because people have been offended but humour is a good tension breaker.

Practice the speech so you can give it as if you are giving it off the cuff but have it flow smoothly.
