multiply everything in the first one by 4 so u get x-4=5 (i think u can solve that)

and the second one multiply by 5 so it becomes 3y-4=2

(email me if u need further help – i use to tutor for math)

ok so you have x/4-1=5/4

you multiply 5/4 and 4 because you do the opposite and that gives you x-1=20/4

20/4 divides perfectly to 5

now it is x-1=5

add one to both sides and you now get x=6

if you substitute that in the answer should come out right.

the second one is 3y/5-4/5=2/5

first off i would add 4/5 to both sides and that gives you

3y/5= 6/5

next i would multiply 5 to both sides and you get

3y= 30/5

30 divided by 5 equals 6

so now its: 3y=6

next divid 3 from both sides and you get y=2
