“Write the equation of the line through each indicated point with the indicated slope”?

Write the equation of the line through each indicated point with the indicated slope. Final answer in y=mx+b form.

1) m= -4; (2,-3)

2) m= 0; (3.1, -2.7)

I know that the first one would start off something like y= -4x + b

but don’t know what to do with the points.

You find “b” by substituting the point values.

1. b=5 . so y=-4x +5

2. b= -2.7 so y =-2.7 is a line parallell to y axis goes through x= 3.1 on the x axis.

to get the equation use the y=mx+b form.

1) Plug the m=-4 in and (2,-3) so thats -3=-4(2)+b

2)Multiply to get -3=-8+b

3) Then add 8 to get b alone 5=b

4) you got ur equation y=-4x+5

then do the same stps for the other. you need w/ the other just ask

1) y–3=4(x-2)

= y–3=4x-8

= y=4x-5

2) y-1=0(x-3)

= y=1
