write the equation of a line that passes through(-7, 8) and (-6,-5). Please give me step by step instructions?

y = mx + b
m is your slope, b is your y intercept.
You can find your slope by finding your rise/run, or
8 – (-5) / -7 – (-6)
It’s the difference in y between the two points over the difference in x between the two points.
Next, plug in the slope to y=mx+b
y = -13/1x + b
to find b, plug in either of those coordinates into the equation.
8 = -13(-7) + b
8 = 91 + b
-83 = b
Now that you have everything, put b and m into the equation.
y= 13x – 83
2. find the X. (x2-x1 which is -6 minus -7 whcih is 1)
3. find y. (y2 minus y1 which is -5 minus 8 which is -13)
4. put it into a fraction, x over y so its 1/-13 that is rise/run (ud better know what tht is..)
5. so now u can simply follow the rule and 1/-13 is equal to.. thats the x and now u look for a y intercept and u have ur answer..hopefully tht helps,. srry if it didnt.. im only just in geometry, so…
m is the slope.
slope is (y2 – y1) / (x2-x1)
y2= -5
y1=8
x2= -6
x1= -7
So, slope is (-5 -8) / (-6 + 7) = -13/1
The +7 is a result of subtracting -7.
Slope is thus -13. This is m.
Go back to our original equation: y – y1 = m(x – x1)
It now becomes: y – 8 = (-13)(x+7)
Simplify to get: y = -13x – 91 + 8
y = -13x – 83
First, find the slope.
(y2 – y1)/(x2 – x1)
So, plug in both sets of points. You should get:
m = -13, whereas m is the slope.
You know have this equation:
y = -13x + b
Plug in ONE set of points.
-5 = 65 + b
Get b on one side.
b = -70
Okay, put that in place of b.
y = -13x – 70
There’s your equation.
EDIT: Nevermind I did it wrong
then plug into point slope equation:
y – 8 = -13(x+7)
y = -13x -83
