Interesting…well… an anti-hero is a main character who lacks traditional heroic qualities. Is that what you think Holden is? He’s definitely not an “everyman”… but is he really lacking in heroic qualities? Or is he more tragic? That’s really a call you, as the critical reader of the novel has to make. The key is, when you decide what he is, use the definition to support your assertion… Like…
I believe Holden is an anti-hero because although he is the main character, he doesn’t display the typical characteristics of a hero… and then you have to provide examples from the book that demonstrate that.
Personally, I think he’s more a tragic hero…

Holden sees himself as a hero – hence his misunderstanding of the “Catcher in the Rye” line – but he doesn’t have many heroic qualities. He has many of the “phony” characteristics he hates about people and in that way I think he’s more of a tragic hero.

tragic hero. you can see that he is good because throughout the novel he mentions that he wants to help children. his version of the song: “catcher in the rye” symbolizes this

you are able to truly say that edward could desire to continually be the focal think approximately bella’s life which reasons him to be the ant-hero. Her strikes are fairly reactions to him so i think of that could desire to be solid. i could propose discussing the controlling element of their courting and use some data approximately abusive realtionships ( i admire the e book yet their courting actually mirrors a real life obsessive/abusive courting) I study someplace (maximum likley wikipedia) that edward is a byronic (dont quote me right here) hero. you’re able to look into that
