Would Antigone’s fate had been different if she were a man?

Antigone, I need to find out if ANtigone’s fate would’ve been different if she were a man. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated =D

Yes, it would have been different. Burial of relatives was the job of women, so she wouldn’t have found herself in that situation to start with. But also the tragedy has to do with the idea of women’s love and conciliatory nature as opposed to men’s warring concerns, so, again, Antigone’s transgression is linked to her femininity. She’s the one who’s trying to keep the family together beyond who’s good and who’s bad, and to obey the gods regardless of human (i.e. male) authority, so her gesture is exquisitely feminine from various points of view.

Taking that aside, though, is she had been a man and still had done what she did, I suppose she might have been dealt with in the same way as she was.
