Help with getting work done AND doing all my other activities?

I’m starting my 1st year of high school and this year, I have dance class every weeknight (monday-friday). I procrastionate alot and I really want to get awesome grades. My mom said I can only continue dance if I get straight As.

Does anybody have any tips for doing well in school and on tests and getting homework done on time?

First, you have to be determined and quit procrastinating.

Take good notes and get organized. Get a calendar or planner, to write in all your assignments and due dates.

Then get started early enough, so you don’t have to cram. I know my son in middle school sometimes has time at the end of class he can use. Use it for studying or homework. On weekends you may have to spend a few hours each day on major projects.

Don’t let things pile up. Good luck!

The best way to juggle everything suggessfully is organization, organization, organization. You can do it all if you plan well and become organized. Procrastination just won’t work and you’ll end up super stressed about everything. You have to keep up with your school work daily, keep up with your homework and assignments and then the rest will follow. It’s really easier than it sounds. Think about it, if you procrastinate then you have so much more to do in a shorter period of time. But if you work a little bit at a time, day after day, you will have time to get everything done and be much less stressed. Get yourself a big calendar or planner and write down when all your assignments at school are due, when you will be out at dance class etc. You will have a better idea about how much time you actually have and when you can squeeze other things in. For me, it made the world of difference and once you get used to being organized, you will find everything is actually easier because you are less stressed.

You will have to prioritize. Are the grades more important to you than the dancing? If they are then when the work gets too hard and you start to worry about your grades, you will have to keep an open mind about dropping dance.

Do your work before the deadlines. If you have a week to write a paper start it 5 days ahead of the due date.

Keep in mind that with this schedule you will have very little time for a social life. Ask yourself if the dance classes are worth that. For some kids they are, but others decide they’d rather have more free time than be a professional level dancer.

I myself struggle with this constantly. I dance, play soccer, and volunteer quite regularly and I’m going into my 3rd year of high school. I also need to get good grades and i do. I think the most important thing is to be motivated. You have to really want to do well or you’ll just end up procrastinating. I know it sounds obvious but trust me, from experience, no matter how organized you are, if you don’t want to do it you’ll find ways not to and then everything will suffer. Try rewarding yourself for good things you do. For example if you start studying for a test earlier in the week instead of the night before, treat yourself to a movie with friends once it’s over. or something else you may enjoy. Just keep positive and motivated and use your weekends wisely!!!!

I think what you need is a time management which is the art of arranging, organizing, scheduling, and budgeting one’s time for the purpose of generating more effective work and productivity.

Good time management involves keeping a schedule of the tasks and activities that have been deemed important. Keeping a calendar or daily planner is helpful to stay on task, but self-discipline is also required. The most efficient to-do list in the world will not help someone who does not look at or follow his own daily planner.

Of course, the other side of the argument is to remember to live. Get on top of your time management, get organized, and stay on task, but live your life. Schedule some time off every day and at least one day off each week. Be organized, but do not be a slave to time management.

I don’t know what works for you, but I try to make study groups and get my homework done with friends. Even though we talk a lot, we still get our work done because we’re all helping each other out.

Another thing you can do, if you have free weekends, is ask your parents to drop you off at the public library or a bookstore with your homework. Since you have nothing else to do (unless you like to read books too much), then you will end up doing your homework anyhow (plus you have books around in case you need help).

i mean, anyone can find time to do their work

you just have to want to put the effort in

it might mean a few almost- all nighters

just work hard and most of your teachers will see it in your work
