Why is this picture unsafe?
For my homework I have to explain why the laboratory activity in unsafe.

SO far I think it can be because his elbows are on the table (but what does that have anything to do with it), that he’s wearing long sleeves, and the cap on the thing on the Bunsen burner is closed. Btw what is it called?

He’s heating a closed system. You NEVER heat a closed system. I’ve seen students make this mistake many times over the years. Explosions are cool on TV but not in real life when hazardous chemicals are spattered everywhere.

His elbows are on the table and his sleeves aren’t rolled up. And that’s called an Erlenmeyer’s flask. From my fuzzy knowledge in chemistry, I also can’t remember closing the top of the flask with a stopper is being safe, too much heat can cause it to shatter.

No, I think it has to do with more than just the fact that his sleeves are rolled up, his elbows are on the table and that the flask is capped. He’s sitting down. In my science lab, we were always taught to stand when we’d be doing experiments like that and to never sit down. If you sat down and the flask exploded, you might not have the chance to get a good distance away to be safe and your clothes could catch fire, liquids could spill on you, etc.

i think it is because the tube is emitting chemicals and the person does not have anything protecting him from that gas
