I have a senior project paper to write and I am trying to think of topics. I would like to go with the ethical issues in marketing. I know there are a bunch. I need to write a 15 page paper, with an interview, and 10 references. I am hoping to get a list together of all the ethical issues in marketing. Can you please help? Thanks

Should people market products that they know are bad for people (not just cigarettes, but junk food, beer, etc.)?

Should a marketing person lie about their product if the sponsor wants them to?

By pushing consumerism through aggressive marketing, are marketing professional damaging the environment? In other words, if marketing people didn’t create demand, would everyone have 100 pairs of shoes in their closet and a yard full of plastic lawn furniture?

Hope these help you get started.

The Stylist
The biggest ethical issue I have in marketting is that it brainwashes people to like a particular product or brand by selling popularity and colors. Obviously we all revert back to ciggarrette marketing, however mcdonalds and others are to blame as well. And how aboutthe need to spend more money on name brand clothing…. Why? The media promotes it and makes it look cool. We as a whole group can no longer look at something generically labeled and say- is this cool?
