Who helps U.S Presidents to write their Inauguration Speech? Are there any specific requirements for authors?

I know that most presidents need a staff or some experts to help him make up a long speech, but I have no idea who could that be. I wonder if there is any specific requirements or conditions for these authors to be picked.

And do you know which inauguration speech or address are considered to be successful or effective ones? I would love to know more about these inauguration things.

Thank you.

Lex had it partially correct. Presidents have SEVERAL speech writers, not just one. Furthermore, they DO “edit” thw speech writer’s material, sometimes many times, and sometimes the changes make a PROFOUND impact upon the speech. Reagan was one to do this, and Peggy Noonan explained just how in some of the books she’s written about her experiences as writer for both Reagan and Bush (#1 !!). Deedee Myers was also a writer for clinton, if you want a different point of view.

Read Noonan’s books, she’s a great writer (DUH!), easy to READ (fun to “listen” to!), and she’s full of “inside” stories and insights about these things. Just websearch on her. Many of her books are also available in the library.

ENJOY!

Each president has a speech writer that either their staff or they themselves write. Usually a president will not change speech writers.
