Trouble with Algebra II/Trigonometry Class?

I’ve been having a lot of trouble with math class. Freshman year I took Honors Geometry and found it pretty hard, especially near the end of the year. But my teacher recommended me for Honors Algebra II/Trigonometry, and this year I’m taking that class. The problem is I really don’t like my teacher, she’s pretty intimidating, plus I’m not very good at math. I’m a smart person but I’m way better at writing than I am at math. I don’t think I can drop out of the class. I do my homework every night, pay attention and take notes, but I just can’t seem to grasp the concepts that well, especially during the homework, and my teacher doesn’t go over homework answers during class.

Does anyone have any advice?

Have you tried organizing a study group? Check with other students to see if anyone may be interested. Also, check with other math or science teachers in the school. They may be able to provide tutoring. Try to get help now before you begin to fall behind.

Suck it up and go for to the teacher for help. When she goes over the lessons in class, say “I don’t understand how you did that. ” She may be intimidating, but it’s better for you to get an A in the class rather then be scared to ask.

Then organize study groups with kids who are smart in math. After school is a good time to do it in the library, so you can do your work together and they can help you better understand the concepts you don’t.

You are pretty much perfect for getting into either of those schools. Keep up you grades because it will only get harder from this point on. But you shall be a shoe in to get into any school into the country.
