I think it was mostly the actions of King George, Parliament, and British officials (and soldiers) in the colonies that had the greatest impact. Remember “No taxation without representation”? The colonists were pissed that Parliament had so much authority over them, and they weren’t allowed to send representatives to protect their interests. King George didn’t even open the Olive Branch Petition when the colonists decided to try to mend the situation. And corrupt British officials and soldiers were taking advantage of them.

I think that the colonists felt that Parliament had way too much to say in their everyday life, especially since most if not all of Parliament, had never been to the colonies, and had no way of knowing what laws were needed, and what were not. Same with the King. He was having too much fun playing doll house with the colonists to pay attention to what they really needed and wanted. He was worried about their profits and not their well-being. I don’t blame the colonists for revolting against a leader whom worried about his own skin more than theirs. A leader is supposed to take care of the people he serves, not the other way around.

The taxation policies regarding the colonies at that time were oppressive and unrelenting. If you wish to expand on that feel free but at the beggining and end of any and every conflict lies Money. The rest is just Politics.

I believe that all played a role. However none of the others could do anything without the kings approval. He was the almighty. Back then it was more dictatorship then it is today.
