Clear jello.

Get a glass or plexiglass cube. Pick out your different cell parts (robosomes, nucleus…yadada.)

Once you have chosen all of the parts of the cell, pour a little of the jello(clear jello) stuff in the bottom of the cube and work your way up. I guarantee this will land an A++ for anyone. Its a little difficult, yet it will draw more attention than a piece of poster board with pasta glued to it.

I think you may be on the right track with analgous ideas like using batteries to represent things that supply power. Perhaps you can think of objects or entire systems that humans are familiar with and use it as an analogy for your model. Just remember to stay within your guidelines if you do something like this. It should still demonstrate that you understand the cell (this is what your teacher wasts to know). Quickly map out or sketch your idea and run it by your teacher – I’m sure they would be happy to help make it as good as it can be!

my science teacher made a model of a plant cell out of a large glass jar being the cell wall, a plastic bag as the cell membrane, a black ball as the nucleus, cut up bits of green paper as the chloroplast, and wall paper paste for the stuff it all floats around in. I can’t remember what he used for the vacuole.

-Clay

-Something edible (such as a cake mix) and enlarge the model so that the whole class can have some when you are finished presenting (food always gets to kids.)
