we are studying the ninteenth century in my reading class and i believe the romantic period was an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated around the middle of the 18th century in Western Europe, during the Industrial Revolution. It was partly a revolt against aristocratic, social, and political norms of the Enlightenment period and a reaction against the scientific rationalization of nature in art and literature. It stressed strong emotion as a source of aesthetic experience, placing new emphasis on such emotions as trepidation, horror, and the awe experienced in confronting the sublimity of untamed nature.

the romantic movement was like a cool sweet water gushing out of a spring after a dry season..

poets like alexander pope and others like him thought that all art should have some sort of morals with it..

but the romantics thought something else..

they stressed individualism and expressing oneself and not just moralizing….

we still like the romantic poets to this day.. wordsworth’s poems are still so fresh and sweet while alexander’s just gives me a headache..

the romantic movement wasnt just about literature , it was about art/ architecture and everything..

the whole western world joined in the mass mind mutation program prolly the most notable after the way internet/TV has changed our thinking
