i need help on my algebra homework…?

this is exactly what it says ” Write an equivalent expression using a commutative property. If the property doesn’t work for that operation, write “doesn’t work”

Ex. y+8 and 12-r

An equivalent expression for y + 8 would be 8 + y. 12 – r does not work. See below for explanation:

The Commutative Properties of Addition and Multiplication

a + b = b + a and ab = ba

The Commutative Property, in general, states that changing the ORDER of two numbers either being added or multiplied, does NOT change the value of it. The two sides are called equivalent expressions because they look different but have the same value.

Note: The commutative property DOES NOT work with the operations division or subtraction, ONLY addition and multiplication.
