Favorite Answer
1) someone at your home flipped a wall switch to stop electric flow to the lights or other electrical appliances
2) the power company has stopped service to your location for non-payment of a bill
If you had working power and it suddenly stops (most often in times of thunderstorm), then we call that an “outtage” or a “blackout”. (You will also sometimes hear the phrase “brownout” but it’s not commonly used.)
In the example you provided the average English speaking person would simply say: “The power is out.”
To make it simple, electricity is “turned off” because of INTENTIONAL human causes (flipping a switch, not paying a bill), electricity is “out” because of NON-INTENTIONAL causes (storm damage, a car collides with a power pole and knocks it down, etc.)
2.power failure
3.failure of the transformer
Its simple!
Theres been a power failure and electric supply has been affected.
cheers n chin up:)
