The word “in” seems to be adverbial since it modifies the verb “caved”. “Caved in” is to be understood as a single unit, so “in” isn’t a preposition as you’d expect, but rather part of the predicate. Were “in” a preposition, it would be followed by a noun or pronoun. “I’m sitting in the class” is not the same as “I’m sitting in on the class”.

Mr. Cellophane
what’s “traped” and when a “runnel” caved in? I’m confused. and the QUESTION (not questian). maybe you meant EQUESTRIAN… “I thank”?

Mercy. You need basic grammar lessons. yes, “in” is an adverb that modifies “caved”.

I’d be more concerned about using the correct spelling and even the correct words!

Yikes!

well in is usually a preposition, but it could be an adverb modifying caved.
