Banff National Park. He is examining predator-prey and

foraging dynamics of elk to determine the underlying

causes of change in their migration patterns across the

park boundary. A better understanding of this is neces-

sary to develop effective management strategies for

wildlife that move across park boundaries. The adminis-

trative boundaries of parks often do not match ecologi-

cal boundaries or park size is smaller than the ecologi-

cal processes that parks are mandated to protect. This

research can help address the transboundary manage-

ment challenges faced by national parks.
