B) (0, -4.5)

C) (-1.5, -3)

D) (4, 16)

2. M is the midpoint of AB

Find the coordinates of B given A(3,8) and M(5,4).

A) (-1, 2)

B) (7, 0)

C) (4, 6)

D) (3.5, 6.5)

1 – D

From A to M, the x coordinate does not change, so from M to B, the x value will still be 4. From A to M, the y coordinate increases by 9, so from M to B, the y value will increase to 16.

2 – B

Same as above. From A to M, x increases by 2, so from M to B, x will be increase to 7. From A to M, th y coordinate decreases by 4, so from M to B, the y value will decrease to 0.

3 – D

This gives us a right triangle with both sides equal to 90. So use a^2 + b^2 = c^2:

90^2 + 90^2 = c^2

16200=c^2

c = sqrt 16200

this simplifies down to 90 sqrt 2
