What is the physics equation for this free falling problem?
The Demon Drop at Cedar Point Amusement Park falls freely for 1.5s after starting from rest. What is its velocity at the end of 1.5s?
I know the equation involves using initial velocity and time inteveral to find final velocity, but I can’t find an equation to determine the final velocity without additional information being required.

Use v = u + at, where u is the initial velocity, 0 in this case, since it falls from rest, v is the final velocity, a is the acceleration due to gravity, (9.81 m/s/s or 32.2 ft/s/s) and t is the time, 1.5 secs in this case, so,
v = u + at, so
v = 0 + 9.81 x 1.5, so
v = 14.715 m/sec.
Hope this helps, Twiggy.
