to calculate the molecular weight of some compound, you need to know what molecular weight is. Molecular weight is the same as molecular mass on Earth. So to calculate the molecular mass (weight), you have to add up the mass of moles in each element and multiply by its number of moles.
In this case:
to calculate the molecular mass of C2H6:
u have to do: C = 2 * 12.01 (mass of Carbon) = 24.02 g/mol C
H = 6 * 1.008 (mass of Hydrogen) = 6.05 g/mol H
then u add 24.02 g/mol C + 6.05 g/mol H = 30.07 g/mol C2H6
