I’ve been to Jordan for about a month and there isn’t much of anything economic going on there except selling tours to some pretty cool places like the Dead Sea, Petra, and even the rock that Moses struck to give the people water. Ninety percent, or so, of the population lives in tiny shacks piled together in Amman (the capitol). The sad part is that they have a great view of Isreal which is kindof like taking a kid to a candy store to have her watch other kids gorging on milk duds; then taking them home and making them watch it again the next day. To top it off, the four foot tall king spends all day with his six foot, blond-hair, blue-eyed, ex-American model wife in his helicopter flying over his subjects between his yachts and palaces. … … sorry, tangent … to answer your original question: the major economic activity between Jordan and the United States (excluding a pretty decent tourist experience) is charity. We give it, they take and in exchange we have at least one damn Arabic country that doesn’t want us dead.
