the volume of a cylinder is pir^2h, where r is the radius of the

base, and h is the vertical height. The mass depends on the

density of the cylinder.

The first answer is right — is it a cylinder of lead or a cylinder of styrofoam?

Did you mean the volume of a cylinder? If so, the formula is just the area of the base times the height, and the area of the circular base is pi times the radius squared.

If you really did mean mass, you have to know what the cylinder is made of and how much it weighs per unit of volume (in other words, the density). Calculate the volume of the cylinder and multiply that by the density of the cylinder in the same units. If your volume is in cubic centimeters, the density has to be converted to cc as well if it’s not already given that way.

You can find the volume. Base times height.

Base is a circle, right?

Pi * r * r

You could also say that the base can be calculated as Pi times r squared.

Then just multiply by the height. You now have the volume of your cylinder. But, you now need to find out what it is made out of, and use the volume to calculate the mass.

All the folks above are right. ALSO, is it a solid cylinder or a hollow cylinder? Their mass calculations will vary

The mass depends on density..
