What is ‘cancellation’?
I need to know this for my maths homework, our teacher didn’t explain it really well.

Cancellation refers to removing the same thing from opposite sides of a mathematical expression.
Examples: 50/70 is 5/7 because you can the 10’s cancel each other out; A x 2 =B x 2 can be simplified to A = B because the 2’s cancel each other out. This is sometimes expressed as “I canceled out the 10’s and have 5 over 7.”
