What is b/3 -2=4?

Find the solution of each equation if the replacement sets are b= 12, 17, 18, 21, 25

Open Sentence (Algebra 1) I don’t understand how to do the fraction part on open sentences.

b/3 – 2 = 4……………..Add 2 to each side:

b/3 = 6……………………Multiply each side by 3:

b = 18.

Take the 2 on the left and move it to the right by adding it to the 4.

The equation becomes b/3=6. To get the fraction, just take the 3 and move it to the right by multiplying. The equation becomes:

b=3*6
