It’s the exciting moment in the story when you aren’t sure what’s going to happen. It’s when Jesus rises from the dead in the story of Christ. It’s when the Bumble and Yukon Jack go over the edge of the Cliff in Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer’s Christmas special. It’s when the winner is announced on American Idol.

What you found was correct. The climax of the story is what happens where everything that has been read (or watched) so far is resolved. Everything from the first part of the story leads up to the climax, after the climax is the falling action in which the writer is summing up the ending and tells how the characters deal with the climax. An example that comes to my mind is the Harry Potter series (sorry if you haven’t read them) in the 7th book the villain is finally confronted and the story ends. Seven books lead up to that fight between Harry and Voldemort, and the ending of the fight is the ending of the climax! Sorry, that was kinda long. Hope it helps!
