I know you say you’re talking about the movie..but i’ve only read the book. They shouldn’t be too different though. The main character’s name is Rainsford. It begins with him talking to a guy named whitney about his philosophy on animals on a boat. Rainsford is a hunter who belives that animals never get scared when they are hunted and don’t show emotion. Whitney goes to bed. Rainsford falls over board and ends up on this island. He goes to the door of a huge house to be greeted at the door by a huge man named Ivan. Ivan is a servant of sorts who is brutal. The owned of the house recognizes Rainsford to be a famous hunter and invites him in. The owner of the house’s name is Zaroff. Zaroff is a well accomplished hunter himself who has been hunting since he was 5. He’s hunted every animal in everyway, and simply doesn’t find it fun anymore. He’s created a game on this island to hunt people. He trains them in his basement so they are fit to fight (but most of them don’t know a thing about hunting). Zaroff tells Rainsford that he wants to hunt him, because he wants a challenge. Rainsford was given a few hours head start, a knife, and some food. Rainsford ran a maze into the woods to try and make a complicated trail for Zaroff to follow. He spends the night in a tree. Zaroff later finds the tree and smiles (he knows Rainsford is up there), but he walks away (to give him a second chance). Rainsford later set up a trap which makes a tree fall on Zaroff, but Zaroff was too quick and it only hit his shoulder. Rainsford makes a trench covered in leaves which kills Zaroff’s best hunting dog. Rainsford attatches his knife to a young, springy tree so it stabs Ivan. Zaroff is chasing Rainsford, so he jumps into the ocean. Later that night, Rainsford is behind the curtains in Zaroff’s bed room. They say whoever kills the other will sleep in Zaroff’s bed. The other will be fed to the dogs. The last line of the story was, “Rainsford had never slept in a better bed”.

I know you wanted the movie, but i’ve only read the story… i don’t know if there’s a difference.
