What explanations are there for the following theories of the origin of life on earth?

Theory 1: Conditions on earth allowed the spontaneous formation of organic molecules which then formed basic cells.

Theory 2: Microbes arrived on an asteroid that impacted on the surface.

What evidence is there for each/either???

How can you explain each/either???

This is my biology homework and I don’t have a clue, so anything explained nice and gently would really help!

Thank you very much.

Let’s assume for a moment that Theory 1 is wrong and it took microbes arriving on a comet or asteroid to “seed” the earth with life.

Where the #$!! did the microbes on the asteroid come from???

Technically, there are only more theories for each theory. However, one thing is true for theory one: we know for a fact that chemical reactions can occur by themselves.Maybe look more into that, and you can explain theory one.I personally believe theory one. In theory two, those microbes that were supposedly on the asteroid would be instantanously vaporized by the blast. Theory two is hard to explain, but theory one could be explained by simple chemistry. Google the S**t out of “chemical reactions” and “formation of cells” etc. Good luck! Also, go to history channel.com and purchase one the “The Universe” recordings. There is an episode that covers both theories. But that might take 6-8 weeks so….
