What does Size & Ergonomics mean (in term of a Textiles Product Analysis)?

I am doing a Textiles Product Analysis (year 10) and it is based on a slipper from home. I am stuck on this particular part, where you have to write about Size and Ergonomics. No stupid answers please (:¬P Thankyou for all answers that I may get!

If you include size with ergonomics it can only describe how you view the product in comparison to the size. With a man’s slipper, you wouldn’t consider doing a size 13 or larger in pink or dinky little baby ones in black. The slipper needs to be functional and suitable for the purpose a slipper is used for. Because everyone likes something a little different from the next person, the slipper needs to be non slip where necessary, maybe a little bit of a heel, maybe up the ankle a little.

Personally I have arthritis and need to keep my ankles warm, the slippers I wear are appalling to look at, but serve the purpose of keeping my feet and ankles warm in the winter. By looking after this end, I keep leg cramps at bay too.

The fabric must also be suitable and not too flimsy if needed for support. So you can then analyse the fabric type to the slipper type to the function. This should give you a rounded view of the necessary function to fabric ratio needed by designers to produce such a product.

Ergonomics basically mean how well it physically fits its requirement. For example, a video game controller would need to almost mould into the players hands perfectly otherwise it wouldn’t work. Ergonomics also links into anthropometrics which are concerned with the appliance of ergonomics to the human form. Like for instance a chair or a dress even
