What does motif mean in relation to art?
For my art homework I’m supposed to draw wrapping paper that could be reproduced. I know how to do this, but then it asks me to use a motif when I do it. What does that mean??
Thanks for the help…

The motif is the repeatable part of the pattern. If you do a penguin, this penguin is the motif and will be repeated within your design across the paper.
If it is Santa, then he will be your motif. Alternatively the writing can be the motif – i.e. Merry Christmas.
Thats how I use it in fabric/knitwear design.
