There’s a trilogy of books by Phillip Pullman titled the Golden Compass. It’s also a movie coming out in December. A friend read them and really enjoyed them-they are very much on the Harry Potter and Ergon level. I’m guessing you’ve already read Traveling Pants series. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty White is my all time favorite (next to the Bible) It’s a really endearing story of a little girl growing up in turn of the century (20th) Brooklyn. I read in in 9th grade and loved it. I’m also a big fan of Sherlock Holmes novels and Agatha Christie, if you like mysteries. It’s also fun to revisit books you may have read when you were younger or that are classics-Judy Blume, the Nancy Drew series. Way to be a voracious reader!

If you like Harry Potter, you’ve got to try “A trip into the supernatural” by Roger Morneau. This was excellent. Also, you’d probably enjoy the Ellen G. White books such as:

The Great Controversy

Desire of Ages

Letters to Young Lovers

She has a whole bunch of them and so far, everything I’ve read from her is really good. Good luck with that. Happy reading.

Hi when I was in middle school (in the early ’90s) I LOVED reading Christopher Pike books. My favorite was Remember Me. I think I read it like 100 times. In fact, I loved it so much, that my mom found a copy of it in hard back and gave it to me as a gift recently! I don’t know if he still writes books or not but I was very entertained, I would sit in my room and read the entire 300 page book in one sitting that’s how much liked them. Since you like Harry Potter, you would probably like Christopher Pike he writes about ghosts, vampires and witches and stuff like that, but he does it in a if this was real way. Not necessarily like Harry Potter where you know he went to a special place to be a wizard. Anyway check his books out. There were really good reads when I was in middle school.

if you take the MAP tests, you can find your reading lexile. You should read at your personal level, not at a general level. It will help a lot more. You can always go to www.lexile.com and find books at you lexile. I like Stephen King, but ask your parents before picking up the books, some of those are a bit explicit sometimes. If you can read Stephen King novels, I would revommend Misery or The Shining.

I absolutely loved the “Blue is for Nightmares” series by Laurie Faria Stolarz. The novels are short reads and very fast-paced.

It consists of:

“Blue is for Nightmares”, “White is for Magic”, “Silver is for Secrets”, and “Red is for Rememberance”

Genres: Suspense, action/adventure, mystery, fantasy (contains the idea of magic)

Edit: You read them!? Awesome! Sadly, I think that the series is over.

Hmm… try any of these:

– Dreamhunter by Elizabeth Knox

– The Lord of the Rings series by JR Tolkien

– A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer

– Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii or Mr. Monk and the Blue Flu by Lee Goldburg (these books are based off of a tv series. judging by what you read, you would like them.)

– The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

– Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Alborn

– To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

try the dragon-lance books, the author Raymond e fiest was my favorite around that time, also if you can find them the shadowrun books are pretty good; sci-fi and fantasy in one, um some of the Margarette Weiss books are rather good too, and the hitchhikers’ guide to the Galaxy is a must, um aside from that just go the the book store and grab a random book, that is what i do now.

Try reading Eragon and Eldest by christopher paolini. Both fiction, and 600-700 page novels each. Should keep you for a while. Also try Inkheart and Inkspell by cornellia funke (I think its the name of the author)
