There were very real threats from animals, of starvation during the winter seasons, with no medical resources people died at a much earlier age and likely more women died in childbirth, and more children died in the first few years of life.

None of this sounds very advantageous to me.

On the other hand, you would not have access to modern technology, Medicine was also primitive, and day’s labor was hard and backbreaking.
