When I had to write essays my english teacher always had a strict outline of intruduction paragraphs. She told my class to first use a general topic on the subject we were writing about.Then in the next sentence write more specificly about the topic, which would lead into our thesis at the very end of the intro. paragraph. A good thesis just really has to prove your point. You should make your thesis strong and noticable, but dont give too much information away…thats for the other paragraphs. It’s kind of like writing “I have many goals set for myself this year such as…”, but much better then that. Good luck =)

If I were writing this English essay, my introduction would be this:

Aristotle, a famous Greek philosopher who profoundly influenced Western thought, once said, “Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals.” In other words, life has meaning only if one is setting goals and aiming for them each and every chance that person gets. For this year in English, my goals are enhancing my knowledge in vocabulary (first body), learning more literary elements (second body), and understanding authors who have impacted society in ways one wouldn’t even begin to imagine (third body).

well for starters.. a thesis should state what you are going to write about. ie.. what the body of your paper is going to talk about.. so.. if the question you have to answer is what you want to accomplish this year in english.. then your thesis is that.

for ex.. In my eight grade honors english class i wish to accomplish ……

Religion can be a force for the good of the individual and the society provided it is kept personal and simple without the trappings of organized religion.
