Vectors word problem?

Ok, I need to know how to solve this type of word problem MATHEMATICALLY not graphically. (I used a pic and made the problem up myself).

A plane heads due east and travels 300 km. Then, the plane turns 25° south of east and travels another 75 km. Next, the plane turns due north and travels 500 km. Then, the plane heads due west and travels 55 km. Finally, the plane turns 35° south of west and travels 400 km? How for away (km) from the original point is the plane? (The resultant)

Total distance travelled east

= 300 + 75cos25 – 55 – 400cos35

= -14.688km

Total distance travelled south

= 75sin25 – 500 + 400sin 35

= -238.873km

The plane’s final distance from the starting point is:

sqrt(14.688^2 + 238.873^2)

= 239.324km.

If the final direction from the starting point is N x deg W, then:

tan(x) = 14.688 / 238.873

x = 3.52.

The plane ends up 239.324km N 3.52deg W of the starting point.

in case you haven’t any longer have been given physics, that’s generally baffling. rigidity is a vector quanity, so that’s broken down into dimensional aspects, maximum generally the vertical and horizontal aspects. in case you think of of the vector as an “arrow” from a factor above the floor touching the floor at a 30 degree perspective, and place the beginning place on the factor above the floor. The x ingredient is the horizontal ingredient (retains the mower shifting forward-the previous rigidity=massxaccleration), and the y ingredient is the vertical ingredient (pushing into the floor and not effective, so which you attempt to cut back this as much as you are able to via mowing on the backside perspective functional). in case you have pushed a non-skill mower, you will celebrate with this! this could be a 30/60/ninety triangle difficulty in conceal, so the x ingredient is 30*sqrt(3)/2= 25.8 lb and the y ingredient is 15 lb.
