(s-1/2at(squared)) / t = u

I assume you want to solve this equation for u:

s = ut + (1/2) at^2 (writing ^ for “to the power of”)

Put all the terms with u in them on one side, and all the other terms on the other side:

ut = s – (1/2) at^2

Now divide both sides by t:

u = (s/t) – (1/2)at

That’s all!
