1 5/6 x 4 1/4 first you need to turn them into improper fractions – so they become 11/6 x 17/4

Then multiply the numerators and the denominators (11 x 17 and 6 x 4.) You get 187/24. To simplify this improper fraction you divide the 187 by 24 = 7 with 19 remaining

the answer is 7 19/24

Hope it helps

The first step is to convert the mixed fractions to improper fractions. There is a certain method that my old math teacher taught me that makes this super-easy.

The mixed fraction one and five-sixths (1 5/6) is equivalent to the improper fraction eleven-sixths (11/6), which you can find by doing the following:

1. Multiply the whole number by the denominator of the fraction, which gives you 1 x 6, which equals 5

2. Then add the numerator of the fraction to this number, which gives you 6 + 5, which is 11

3. The answer from #2 above is the numerator of your improper fraction and the denominator stays the same, so the improper fraction is 11/6

The mixed fraction four and one-fourth (4 1/4) is equivalent to the improper fraction seventeen-fourths, or 17/4.

Now you should multiply the two improper fractions by multiplying the first numerator by the second numerator, and placing the answer over the product of the two denominators. Good Luck!
