Trying to find verbal irony in Douglass’ essay..help!?
I found all the other literary devices i’m supposed to but i cant find any verbal irony in Learning to Read and Write! help please!

Not sure if this helps, but I think it might have to do with how earlier his Master had said that if he learns to read and write he will be useless as a slave or something long those lines, and thats exactly what happens. He gains knowledge and can’t stand his situation even more. I don’t know if this is what you are looking for. Good Luck.
