Help! how do you figure out the slope and y- int. of a line?

well, I know how to do that, but this graph doesn’t form a straight line. It’s all over the place.

And also, how do you do that for a line that curves? thanks

By definition:

The equation of any straight line, called a linear equation, can be written as: y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept.

If your line is not straight, this is not applicable, and there should be no definite slope.

Curved lines have average slopes if you specify two points on that curve. From there, you find the equation of the line that connects those two points.

Remember, that to find the slope between two points:

y2 – y1 / x1 – x2
