Here’s how I worked it out:-
half of 38 = 19
Difference required is 12, so half of this should be added to 19 and the other half subtracted
19 + 6 = 25
19 – 6 = 13
25 + 13 = 38

according to other condition,
x – y =12 ……………(2)
adding 1 and 2,
2x = 50
x=25
y= 25-12
=13
