For a physician’s office, there are only a few coding materials that would be necessary:
1) ICD 9 CM Volumes 1 & 2 – for the DIAGNOSIS index and tabular
2) CPT book – for professional billing of services (physician related services)
3) HCPC Level II (for supplies, drugs and devices)
These are required in order to have accurate coding for proper billing and reimbursement in a physician office setting.
