It was an idea that in America, anything was possible! A lot of immigrants, especially during the 1900’s when Europe was a mess, immigrated to America in hope of finding a better life or fulfilling their dreams by become rich and famous! That’s why a lot of American are descended from Irish, Welsh, Polish, Italian Etc. A lot of Asians immigrated to the US as well, which explains the large Chinese population and ‘China towns’ that are scattered around the US.

The book, ‘of Mice and Men’ is a good example of the American dream.

GREED

seems to me the “American Dream” is based on greed – I want it ALL… the house, the fence, 2.4 kids, a dog, 2 cars in a 2 car garage…9-5 job that pays $50,000 or more…

The American Dream is totally selfish – it doesnt take into account the state of the planet (being over populated with more than 6 Billion people – and a deteriorating environment)

its a DREAM – an ideal that most will not attain -and many will go into debt trying to acheive…

The American Dream refers to foreign immigrants who came to the United States with the hopes of leading a better life. They were often portrayed as being shipped into the United States past the Statue of Liberty to arrive on Ellis Island, leaving hardship and socioeconomic turmoil behind.
