story problem i’m having a little trouble with?

a cylinders bottom and top bases are both circles, and its side is perpendicular to the bases. what would the hape of a flag need to be in order to generate a cylinder when it rotates about its pole?

thats the question.

wouldn’t it need to be rectangle shape?

am i right or no?

You are exactly right! A non-rectangular parallelogram would cause the bases to be pointy (cones).

You are absolutely right. The net shpe of a cylinder is a rectangle and two circles. The circles in your case being the open hollow. To see for your self, cut out a rectangular piece of paper and wrap it round and you’ll see what i’m saying.
