what does un and una mean when someone says something like this:
una muchacho
un policia
una mujer
un chico
una chica
I dont understand what una and un are? What is the difference between una and un?!!

it means “a” or “the”. Also, una is just the feminine tense of un. They’re the same word. You use una for feminine words, un for masculine.

un is when it’s in the masculine form.

un and una are just ways of seperating males and females like for chico, you would use un chico because un=male and chico=male
for a female word like chica you would use una chica because una=female and chica=female
