So basically your original equation is 4x^2, with an unknown x.

Now it is telling you the value of X, which is 3. Thus, plug in 3 for x into your original equation. I’ll put it in parenthesis so you can better understand it. = 4(3) ^2.

According to PEMDAS, an acronym for the order of operations, parenthesis is first. Thus, first find out 3^2, which = 9.

Now your equation looks like this:

4(9). This equals 36.

Thus, your answer is 36.

I’m getting 144. I think all you do is plug 3 in for x. That means 4(3)=12 then 12 sqaured = 144.

its 144 cause 4 times 3 = 12 and then if you square 12 it is 144

if it looks like this 4(x^2) then it is

4(3^2)

=4(9)

=36

if it looks like this (4x)^2 then it is

=(4*3)^2

=(12)^2

=144
